September in Vail offers pleasant mountain days and crisp, cool evenings. Average daytime temperatures are in the upper 60s to low 70s°F, while evenings often dip to the mid-40s°F. We encourage guests to bring a light layer or wrap for comfort during the outdoor portions of the celebration.

Vail’s elevation is approximately 8,150 feet above sea level, and the higher altitude can take a little time to adjust to. The thinner air means less oxygen and stronger sun exposure than most guests are accustomed to. To ensure a comfortable stay, we suggest the following: Staying well-hydrated before and during your trip, taking it easy your first day in town, using sunscreen and sunglasses outdoors, and drinking electrolytes if you’re feeling fatigued. A little preparation goes a long way toward enjoying the fresh mountain air and beautiful views!
